Here are some before and after pics of our recent back yard project. As you can see in the first pic, we had a problem with water settling in what we'll loosely refer to as a "lawn". We added a dry creek to funnel water to a designated area where it can be re-used. We also re-graded the entire yard, planted a new lawn and added a fishpond. Yes, we had help (a lot of it!)... Thank you Greisedieck Landscaping!

Before, an excellent habitat for water fowl in the middle of our unusable yard.

After, the new green lawn grades into a new dry creek. We planted Ornamental Grasses along the side and all new shrubs along the back of the lot including Forsythia, Burning Bush, and varieties of Evergreens. I created a little seating area for contemplation and morning coffee.

Before, the yard is overgrown with sticker bushes, weedy trees and poison oak. btw, that's our neighbor's house during their major renovation.

After... ah, nice. Good job on that house renovation, too

Before, we had what my husband refers to as "stupid trees" such as the small one on the right that's marked to come down. He hates mowing around anything, so a goal of this redesign was to alleviate mowing stress.

After, mowing stress relieved.

Before, more overgrown mess in the early spring before it gets even worse.

Before, a view from our patio last fall.

After, neat and tidy...

Before, our view to the side yard from the patio.

After, we put in a pond that we can enjoy while out on the patio.

This is a 'before' photo showing what our side yard looked like when we purchsed the home in 2005. I also posted a progression photo gallery of how that yard has been doing now that's it's been landscaped.
